Can I Generate My Own Electricity with a Photovoltaic
(PV) Array?
Now that 36 states have adopted "net billing legislation", we are
finally on our way to energy independence using the sun's "free
energy". What this does is allow us to
generate our own electricity (with a photovoltaic array) and trade electricity
with the utility watt for watt. This also affords us the reliability of being
tied to the electrical grid while protecting us from rising electricity rates.
While PV is probably the most expensive of the
renewable energy resources in the market today, it also creates the best fit
with the utility. During the day, when the utility sees its highest load, a PV
system is generating at its maximum. For that reason alone, utilities and state and federal
governments have come together to offer incentives to stimulate the installation
of PV systems across the country. So its important to review the economics of a
proposed PV system and know what incentives are available. Click on our
residential analysis to view the economics of a typical PV system for a residence. Click on our
commercial analysis to view the economics of a typical system for a business.
Or, finally, click on our
school or public building analysis to view the economics of a
typical system for a school or public building.
Silver State Renewables, Inc. can design your system, work with
local
inspectors and your utility to obtain the proper approvals (providing
appropriate drawings), and then supervise the installation of
the equipment to assure your satisfaction. Call or email us, with your
questions, or for a quote.
In the following paragraphs you will
find links to photovoltaic module manufactures and additional
resources for more information. We recognize that when you click on
one of these links you will leave our website and may never return.
While we certainly hope you will take advantage of out services at
some future date, we feel privileged to to have played some small part
in helping you learn more about how you can "become more energy
independent". Come back and see us when you're ready.
Who are the Manufacturers?
The photovoltaic solar industry is quite diverse.
In some cases you can
purchase modules or whole systems from the manufacturer, from dealers and
distributors, from electrical contractors and installers, from electrical supply
houses or from catalog sales outlets specializing in renewable energy products.
Only module manufacturers are listed below. Others may be out there also.
