About Us
Silver State Renewables, Inc. is currently a
consulting and project management firm, operating out
of a small town in northeast Nevada. We started the company in 1996 with the mission
"to build better working and living environments".
We propose to do this by helping folks produce some of your own food and reduce the cost of heating, cooling and
electrifying their homes and/or businesses with renewable energy resources.
The principle of the firm is Michael J. Kerna:
- Michael J. Kerna's professional career started in 1973 after
graduating from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree
in chemical engineering. Since that time he's spent 35 years in the
alternative fuels industry. Early in his career he spent 6 years with The
Institute of Gas Technology and Phillips Petroleum Company doing research
and development on low and medium BTU gasses, which were designed to replace
natural gas in industrial applications. Then he spent the next 17 years
doing project development work and operating two geothermal projects for the
Phillips Petroleum Company, Chevron Geothermal Corporation and Oxbow
Geothermal Corporation. The projects involved selling geothermal fluid and
electricity to two of the major utilities (Pacific Corporation and Southern
California Edison). He was a plant manager for 5 of those years. He's also a
registered professional engineer in Oklahoma.
